One of the best parts of touring the UK is, not only performing in amazing venues, but being able to visit a different art gallery every week. So far, we have performed in sixteen different venues, in 15 different cities; that’s a lot of art and history to absorb!
Coming from Brazil, and being raised in a completely different culture, I always try to pop by a museum when I have time off. The highlights of the tour so far for me were Dublin’s National Gallery, with a little part of the gallery dedicated only to great European names like Picasso, Van Gogh and Monet, and the National Galleries of Scotland, in Edinburgh. We’re in Liverpool this week, which has so many incredible art galleries and museums, there is so much to choose from!
I’m really looking forward to getting to Newcastle (8-12 March); I’m so curious about this contemporary art gallery called BALTIC. It’s housed in a revamped industrial building in the south bank of the city, in Gateshead. It reminds so much of TATE Modern in London, because of the huge size of the building. Currently on at the gallery is a new exhibition entitled: “It’s not who you are, it’s how you are”, which explores the relationship between art and architecture. Definitely going to that one!
